Affton has a rich history of being a railroad hub. In the mid-1800’s, the railroad was used by the Missouri Pacific Railroad to deliver ore and coal from California to Affton. This railroad line ran throughout the entire city and was one of the main reasons for the development of the city. After the mid-1800’s rail service moved away from this point. As the population decreased, the railway company began a series of major rail line upgrades. These new rail lines eventually became part of the Central West End Subdivision. Eventually, these rail improvements brought even more population to the town and made it more appealing to both new and existing residents. Information about Ballwin, Missouri can be found here.
